MGM’s Approach to Compliance Messaging: An Updated Code, Engaging Training and Unique Messaging

When MGM Resorts international vice president of compliance Omar Khoury inherited the company’s code of conduct in 2013, it looked and read like many codes at the time – dense and full of legalese. The company was also struggling to encourage employee engagement with the code materials, but its 92-slide training featuring stock photos and a bit of audio did not exactly enhance their experience, he said. During a recent panel at SCCE’s Annual Compliance and Ethics Institute, Khoury, along with his MGM colleague Lisa Caserta and LRN’s Marsha Ershaghi Hames, discussed MGMs’s initiative to make the code of conduct more accessible and outlined creative messaging approaches the company is taking to supplement its code-of-conduct training.
