NYC Bar Report on CCO Liability Calls for More Regulatory Guidance, Transparency and Cooperation

CCOs in the financial services industry increasingly see themselves as the targets of enforcement actions, a recent NYC Bar Association report found. That, combined with the increased compliance burden of more certification requirements and regulatory attestations, may be causing some qualified individuals to steer clear of the job. The fix, the report says, may be in increased public and private sector cooperation. We examine the report, which explores how regulators and compliance professionals can achieve the shared goals of preventing, detecting and remediating compliance failures.
