In theory, compliance initiatives throughout a merger or acquisition should proceed with ease and be appreciated. In reality, various moving parts, players and personalities must be managed throughout the process by a compliance team, which no doubt will be called on to exercise its diplomatic skills while undertaking exceedingly vital work in a sometimes hostile environment.
