An In-House Perspective on Tackling the Challenges of Compliance in Russia and the CIS

Rafael Zokhrabyan has a challenging job. As the legal director of the CIS subsidiary of French construction materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain, he is tasked with promoting anti-corruption compliance in a region with a reputation for being high-risk. In a recent conversation with the Anti-Corruption Report he explained how the region’s cultural history influences perceptions of compliance and the tools he uses – including anonymous reporting, games and rap battles – to encourage his work force to trust the compliance department, follow the rules and act ethically for the good of the company.
