More than a decade after they allegedly organized and facilitated the bribery of officials in Macedonia and Montenegro, three former Magyar Telekom executives have resolved their FCPA cases with the SEC. While the company settled with the agency in 2011, the individual settlements come on the eve of trial, after an unusual and protracted battle with the SEC. The long duration of the SEC’s litigation efforts in these matters and the penalties doled out to the executives demonstrate the SEC’s ongoing commitment to pursuing individuals who mastermind bribery schemes.
